Vietnam Tea Tour 2027, Add-Ons

Vietnam Tea Tour 2027, Add-Ons

Vietnam Tea Tour, 19 to 26 June 2027

Make the trip yours

The tour price already covers your meals, your rooms, every workshop, all local transport and your airport transfers in both directions. You do not need any of the things on this page.

They exist because past guests asked for them, and because a few of them solve problems we watched people run into. Add none, add one, add all seven.

You need a booked place before you can add any of these. If you have not put down your $500 deposit yet, start there and come back to this page afterwards. Everything here is priced per person, and you can add things later as long as we still have room to arrange them.

Comfort

Rooms are twin-shared by default and we pair people thoughtfully. These two are for anyone who would rather not share.

Accommodation

Single Room Supplement

$400 per person, whole trip

A room to yourself every night, in Hà Nội, Thái Nguyên and Hà Giang.

Plenty of solo travellers are happy sharing and make a friend out of it. Plenty of others want to close the door at the end of a long day. Both are good answers.

Ask early. Single rooms in the mountains are genuinely limited. This is the one add-on that can sell out on availability rather than on price.
Accommodation

Two Nights at the Hà Giang Mountain Retreat

$500 per person, for the two nights

For two nights of the week you swap the standard mountain rooms for a retreat up in the Hà Giang mountains, with herbal baths and a view straight out over the hills.

You come down each day for everything on the itinerary, then head back up to quiet in the evening. Same tea, same people, softer bed, and the kind of morning where you wake up inside a cloud.

Which one do I want? The supplement gives you privacy everywhere, all seven nights. The retreat gives you two nights of real comfort in the mountains specifically, where the standard lodging is a working guesthouse in a beautiful spot rather than a hotel. Plenty of people take both.

Things that make the week easier

Small, and each one fixes something we actually watched go wrong.

Connectivity

eSIM and Connectivity Service

$45 per person

We sort your Vietnamese mobile data before you fly, so your phone works the moment you land.

  • An eSIM on a network chosen for coverage in the mountains, not just the cities
  • Set up and tested with you before departure, not in an arrivals hall
  • Enough data for the week, maps and calls home included
This is the thing that went wrong most. Last year guests queued at the airport, some were sold numbers that never activated, and several could not get onto the airport wifi at all during the hour they most needed us. Your phone must be carrier unlocked and eSIM capable, and your carrier can confirm that in one call.
Convenience

Laundry Service

$50 per person, for the whole trip

Laundry handled for you for the whole trip. Over eight days there are normally three or four points where we can get it done, in Ha Noi, in Thai Nguyen and at the other lowland stops. Hand us the bag in the morning and it comes back to your room. Nothing can be washed up in the high mountains, for anyone, which is a facilities limit rather than a choice.

Dropped at the hotel front desk, bagged and labelled by room, back the same night where the hotel offers it.

June is hot and humid. You will get through clothes faster than you expect, and the people who packed light were consistently happier than the ones hauling a full week into the mountains.
Money

Prepaid Spending Credit

$50 to $500 the button loads $200, ask us for any other amount

Buy your spending money before you fly and collect it in Vietnamese đồng, counted into an envelope, on arrival.

The rate is locked when you buy. No working it out at an airport counter, nothing to settle at the end. Top-ups available during the week.

You will want some cash either way. Cities take cards. Villages and the mountains do not. Anything you have not spent comes back to you before you fly home.

An extra day

One optional excursion, and we are going to be straight with you about it.

Excursion

Hạ Long Bay, full day

$200 per person

A full day out to Hạ Long Bay, roughly 8am to 10pm, on the day either side of the main tour. Coach from Hà Nội and back, lunch on a boat out in the bay, dinner once we return.

It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the easiest way to see it without organising anything yourself.

Honestly: it divides people. Four of the nine who travelled in 2026 answered our post trip questions about it. Not one of them wanted it kept exactly as it was. Two would reshape it, two would cut it. The bay is beautiful and the caves get very crowded, and it is a long day at the end of an already full week. Several guests told us they would rather have spent the day slowly in Hà Nội. We have kept it because some people travel a very long way and want to see it. Read that and decide.

These are all buyable here, and every one is refundable right up to the first day of the tour. Only the $500 deposit is non refundable, and none of this is that. If you are not yet booked on the tour, book that first and come back, because an add on without a place on the trip is not much use to either of us.

One more night

The one you might actually need rather than simply want, especially if you are adding Hạ Long Bay or flying in early.

Accommodation

An extra night of hotel

$40 per person, per night

One more night at either end of the trip. Useful if you are flying in a day early to shake off the journey, leaving a day late, or adding the Hạ Long Bay excursion, which needs a spare day beside the tour week.

Worth saying: arriving a day early is the single most common thing past guests said they were glad they did. The first day of the tour is a real day, not a rest day.

Everything at a glance

One deadline for all of them: Friday 18 June 2027, the day before we fly, which is also the last day for your balance. Two of them depend on rooms we have to hold, so tell us early rather than late even though the deadline is generous.

Questions people actually ask

Do I need any of this?

No. The tour is complete without a single one. Meals, rooms, workshops, local transport and both airport transfers are already in the price you paid. This page is for people who want a specific thing, not a checklist to work through.

Can I add something later?

Usually yes. The single room is the exception, because mountain availability is limited and once we have committed with the hotels it gets difficult. Everything else can be added up to the dates in the table above, up to Friday 18 June 2027, and not after.

What is already included?

Seven nights of accommodation twin share, all meals listed on the itinerary, all ground transport in Vietnam including your airport pickup and drop-off, every farm visit, tasting and workshop on the itinerary, John and Thùy with you for the whole week, and the trip web app. Not included: international flights, your Vietnam e-visa, travel insurance, a single room, personal spending, and anything on this page. That list is the same one on the booking page, and if the two ever differ the booking page is the one to trust.

Is my phone going to work?

Only if it is carrier unlocked and eSIM capable. This caught several guests out last year, and they found out at the airport, which is the worst possible moment. Your carrier can tell you in one phone call. Do it now, whether or not you buy the connectivity service from us.

How do refunds work on add-ons?

Every add-on is refunded in full if you cancel, right up to the first day of the tour on Saturday 19 June 2027. The only thing that is never refundable is the $500 tour deposit, and none of this page is that. There is no sliding scale and no earlier cut off.

Not sure? Do not guess. Reply to any email from us, or write to john@teajtea.com, and we will tell you honestly whether a given add-on is worth it for the trip you are planning. Sometimes the answer is no.
